Nice to meet you!

Hello, I’m Crystal Paul, an experienced educator with 18 years of teaching math at the middle school level and a Master’s degree in Special Education. While I’ve had the privilege of teaching in various countries worldwide, my educational journey began in Virginia. Interestingly, no matter where I’ve taught, I’ve noticed that students all encounter similar challenges when it comes to learning math.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching for me has been witnessing that magical “AHA!” moment when a math concept finally clicks for a student. However, as much as I cherished my time in the classroom, I’ve decided to shift my focus to tutoring to make an even greater impact with each individual student.

Tutoring allows me to fully concentrate on each student’s unique needs, whether through personalized one-on-one sessions or in small groups. So, how can I assist your child in conquering math? Let’s connect and work together to find the best approach!

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Colin Powell

Math… the struggle is real!

In all my years of teaching, nothing brought me more satisfaction than seeing the enlightenment that comes from a student finally grasp something that was once a struggle. Middle school can be tough, but it’s also a time of significant growth. Seeing students discover who they are, gain independence, and achieve academic milestones is truly gratifying. While my classroom days are behind me, I’ve carried forward the most rewarding aspects of teaching into my tutoring practice. I created AHA! Math Tutoring to share my expertise in a small group setting and make an even greater impact.
Tutoring in small groups or one-on-one sessions allows me to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style. Through a variety of activities and the use of visuals and models, I empower students to develop their own problem-solving strategies at their individual pace. I understand that not everyone finds math quick and easy, but I firmly believe that math is not a race—it’s a journey of discovery and growth. Every student possesses the potential to grow in math, and my mission is to cultivate a growth mindset that fosters independence and numeracy fluency before they reach high school. Middle school is a critical time for laying the groundwork for success in math, and I am committed to ensuring that each student builds a solid foundation to develop in their mathematical proficiency. Welcome to AHA! Math Tutoring where you’re guided by the wisdom and experience of a dedicated math educator committed to supporting your child every step of the way.
